MADISON, Wis. – The Wisconsin Office of Emergency Communications (OEC) is pleased to announce that a second round application period has opened for local public safety answering points (PSAPs) to apply for a minimum of $624,000 in remaining funding from the $2.9 million grant awarded to Wisconsin by the U.S. Department of Transportation and U.S. Department of Commerce.

In June 2020, OEC announced the award of $2.1 million of those federal funds to 24 local PSAP grant projects under a first round of applications: https://oec.wi.gov/wp-content/library/2020/OEC-PSAP-Grants061720.pdf

OEC, part of the Wisconsin Department of Military Affairs, provides program management for the implementation of the statewide emergency services IP-based network (ESInet) and applied for the federal grant earlier this year.

Applications for this second grant opportunity are due by November 30, 2020.  Primary PSAPs who responded to the statewide 9-1-1 survey assessment are eligible to apply for allowable expenses related to end of life Customer Premises Equipment (CPE) replacement, logging records, and mobile answering positions.  Additional details on how to apply, eligibility, and specific allowable expenses are included in the Grant Announcement.
