MADISON, Wis. — FirstNet Public Safety Offerings on State Wireless Contract
The State of Wisconsin (the State) has signed a contract amendment with AT&T that will allow state, local and tribal public safety agencies (“agencies”) to subscribe to the FirstNet services in the state.
The First Responder Network Authority (FirstNet) was authorized by Congress in 2012 to develop and operate a nationwide public safety broadband network specifically for first responders. AT&T was selected through a federal competitive bidding process to build and operate the system that will allow authorized public safety personnel to send and receive voice, data, video, images, and text over a dedicated, high speed interoperable broadband network.
Last December, the State “opted-in” following a recommendation by the State Interoperability Council.
The State’s wireless services contract 505ENT-M17-WIRELESSPH-02, Amendment 3, provides service public safety plans and pricing for authorized public safety agencies through AT&T. In addition, devices and other equipment are available to purchase. Through this amendment, authorized public safety agencies can immediately begin utilizing the State of Wisconsin pricing and services.
