Wisconsin Department of Military Affairs (DMA), Office of Emergency Communications (OEC) staff continue to move forward with creating a statewide public safety interoperable communications system.
Currently, DMA and Wisconsin Department of Transportation (DOT) are working together to negotiate a long-term maintenance contract with EF Johnson for the Wisconsin Interoperable System for Communications (WISCOM). The contract will provide comparable pricing for local agencies and a smooth transition to the next iteration of Wisconsin’s public safety interoperable radio system.
OEC staff continue to work to reissue the Request for Proposal (RFP) for a public safety interoperable communications system which was cancelled in late 2018. As was done with the original RFP, WI Department of Corrections, Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources and DOT personnel will be essential participants in developing the RFP for the new public safety interoperable communications system.
